3D test

I've been dreaming up ways to make 3D work for me. I still want to incorporate projection mapping, even if it is limited. According to my plan, that will give me the 2D look I want with all the benefits of 3D, like reflections, specular highlights, bump mapping, and depth of field.

This is what I was able to achieve in that vein using render passes on a texture mapped model.

I'm still in the testing phase, this has nothing to do with my final look.

Silhouettes

So far, these silhouettes have been the most effective image in communicating my idea.

Motivation

Udel is fundamentally hopeful. For me, that is the distinguishing feature of her personality. Every action she takes speaks to an underlying optimism. She believes wholeheartedly in her work. For me, this represents a different challenge, considering that most of my characters wallow in cynicism.

Techniques

A classmate phrased it best. I plan to do 2D character animation in a heavily computer assisted manner. And with such a dimensional setting, I am experimenting with various forms of 3D processes.

Architectural Reference

The city being made up of multitudes of buildings stacked upon each other through the ages, I wanted to collect architectural reference pertaining to multiple periods and states of disrepair.

These are some miscellaneous reference images.
